Shame is a feeling of apprehension, humiliation, and self-loathing. It has been said that shame makes you feel like a bad person or that you have failed in something important. On the other hand, guilt is a feeling of remorse for something bad you have done and it can be experienced in response to an action or inaction. When we feel shame it is usually not connected with a specific present event but is a result of a pervasive background sense felt all the time.
